Social Media Detox

I just deleted the Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter apps on my phone because they have been consuming my time all summer. They also triggered negative thoughts and I just couldn’t handle everything anymore.

It has been a while since I did this. I guess that’s why that panic attack hit me so hard this time around. I thought I was finally strong enough, but I guess these attacks just won’t ever go away.

I’m doing better than I thought actually. Hence, I am here writing this and sharing it. I went to the bookstore and I bought 2 books. At times like this, I just go to my happy place… the bookstore. I walked around for about half an hour. I got:

  • 101 Essays that will Change the way You Think by Brianna Wiest

I have been wanting to buy and read this, but I had other books to read, so I waited a bit longer.

  • in a dark, dark wood by Ruth Ware

This one was not planned. I have seen this cover before, but I was not really interested in thrillers at that time. It was on sale, and the summary intrigued me, so I got it. I also am not in the mood to read romance, so I am trying out a new genre.

I am optimistic about how the next few days will go. I already feel better about not checking social media as soon as I woke up this morning. I think if I would have not deleted those apps, I would not be here writing and posting this right now.

I would like to take this chance to thank all of you who take the time to read my posts. It means a lot to me. Also, to those who are also struggling with their mental health, just know that you are not alone. Take the time to learn about yourself (what you like and what you don’t). Know your limits and last but not least, learn something new (explore other things).
